SPANISH MOVIE

Do you like Spanish films? Do you like laughing in the cinema? The last Spanish film opened in cinemas is Spanish Movie, a film which follows the trail of made-in-Hollywood comedies like Scary Movie (and all its sequels).

Directed by Javier Ruiz Caldera, this hilarious comedy will make the audience burst into laughter. Spanish and comedy cinema lovers can find satirical imitation of several successful Spanish films such as Pan’s Labyrinth, The Others, The sea inside, The Orphanage, Volver and Rec.

But, have you watched some of these films? Although recommended, if you have not seen the movies, never mind. What is important is having a good time at the cinema. The purpose of this burlesque imitation is to laugh and a smile on your face.

Spanish Movie stars Alexandra Jiménez (better known as África in the serie Los Serrano), Silvia Abril (a brilliant Buenafuente’s collaborator and the awkward Chiquilicuatre’s dancer in 2008 Eurovision Festival). Other main actors and actresses are Joaquín Reyes who is magnificent in the role of the Satyr (according to mithology, a creature half man and half goat), Carlos Areces who plays the role, in the burlesque way, of Javier Bardem in The sea inside, Michelle Jenner who plays the role of a fairy and Berto Romero as a smurf. As well as the cast, a rich essence of the film are the special collaborations and cameos. Leslie Nielsen, Belén Rueda, Amenabar, Alex de la Iglesia, Andreu Buenafuente (as David the Gnome), Espinete…

David the Gnome, Espinete and The Smurfs cause many laughs are specific to a kind of public is borned before the 90s.

To end up, the soundtrack and the special effects. During the film the spectator can hear the main song of the Almodovar film Volver, and a ballad of Spanish music group “La quinta estación” with an “elaborated” choreography. About the special effects, only a scene: when a woman character falls down inside a bath tub, it can be seen how an old man with beard is who falls down there.

Spanish Movie is not too good. But if you want to roar with laughter, go to watch it!
